Superintensive Spanish course with culinary experiences

In this one-week super-intensive course with culinary tastings, which is recognised as educational leave in many German states, you will have the opportunity to taste local specialities directly from the producers and learn interesting facts from the owners about how they have been made in the traditional way for generations. The Academia Pradoventura team is present at all these activities to translate the most important content for beginners.

In addition to the Spanish course, the following activities take place:

Walk to the Ibérico Pigs and Payoyo Goats

On the first day (or on another day), we take a walk through a private finca with Ibérico pigs and Payoyo goats, a native goat breed – offering wonderful views of the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. Along the way, you’ll hear interesting information about the White Villages, the origins of Prado del Rey, and the region’s livestock farming and landscape. We’ll also point out characteristic plants and wild herbs. All of this is in Spanish – with German or English translation for beginners. The walk is optional and offered free of charge by the language school team. If the weather does not permit, the walk may be cancelled.

Visit to an olive oil mill

In the local olive oil mill El Callejón, olive oil has been cold-pressed for generations using traditional methods, not only Extra Virgin Olive Oil, but also the oil of the wild olive “Acebuchina”. This makes this mill one of the few in the entire country that presses acebuchina oil. During our visit, the owner Laureano explains with great dedication the process of harvesting, delivery, grinding and pressing, how olive oil is produced and bottled there. Afterwards, we can taste the three different olive oils with delicious molletes (white bread made according to an Arabic recipe), savour the differences and comment on them. Of course, we can ask questions and use the Spanish we have learnt.

Visit to an Iberian sausage manufacturer

The visit to the Iberian sausage manufacturer gives us an insight into the recipes for Iberian sausages that have been handed down for generations, how they are traditionally produced in the families after slaughter and gently air-dried. While the owner tells us about the natural ingredients and exquisite spices, describes the production process and answers questions, we can taste chorizo (Iberian paprika sausage), salchichón (Iberian sausage similar to salami) and morcilla (Iberian liver and blood sausage), among others.

Honey tasting

From October 2025, we will be adding a special honey tasting to our culinary programme. Did you know that Prado del Rey is the place with the highest density of beekeepers in the province of Cádiz? Over 60 per cent of our region’s honey is produced here. The privileged location between two nature parks offers the bees ideal conditions. We owe the extraordinary variety of honey to the unspoilt nature and the family tradition of the beekeepers, who have been passing on their knowledge for generations.

You will learn how this liquid gold is carefully extracted, what criteria are used to select the different types of honey and much more. Of course, you can ask the experts all your questions. Our visit is crowned by the tasting of three unique types of honey, whose aroma, texture and flavour will appeal to all the senses.
